It’s official! We are now on summer break. My oldest just finished up his last day of first grade. I can’t believe he will be a second grader in the fall, and my middle son will start Pre-K. It seems like it was yesterday, almost seven years ago today that we were officially matched with a birth mom, and eagerly awaiting our son’s arrival. We were preparing his room, ready to bring him home. I was just holding him, and taking in every sweet breath he took. I was so proud when he took his first steps. I was teaching him sign language, and so thrilled when he started signing and communicating with me. Then his first words came and that boy never stopped talking!!
It was so hard for me to send him off to school that first year, especially when I originally thought I would homeschool. This year in school he has flourished so much. He is now reading books to me, and correcting me on things when I am wrong. He has always been one smart cookie and this year was no exception. He brought home all A’s and E’s. Can you tell I am one proud mama?
We plan to have one fun and relaxing summer exploring our new city, and running around in the backyard having water gun fights. This first week we will be on the road, though. We are going to visit some family and friends and then hit the summer hard when we get back. The boys will be starting swim lessons, with this being the first time for my middle son. My daughter already goes to aquatic therapy every week. Of course, we will start crossing things off of our summer bucket list as well.
I will be adding some posts, and keeping everyone updated with what we are doing along the way. I will also be sharing some fun activities to keep us occupied. What things are you planning on for your summer break? I would love for you to follow us!
