Where it all began: So happy together
I met my husband in the ninth grade. I wouldn’t say that it was love at first sight, but after I got to know him, I thought he could be the one. He didn’t quite agree with me then. The thought of me being the one in ninth grade scared him a bit, so he decided to end things.
We remained good friends throughout high school though and finally found our way back to one another in college. We dated for a couple of years, and then got married. We were so happy together. We bought our first house together a year after we got married and brought two puppies home from the humane society.
Our first kids:
Max and Maggie were our first fur babies. After bringing these two crazy puppies home, I got the itch to start trying for a family. I had always dreamed of being a mom. It was my favorite thing to pretend growing up. You could always find me with a doll, or playing dress up with my poor cat Randy. My husband had always dreamed of having a family also and even had a boy’s name picked out. As we started trying it wasn’t about if we would have a family but when. We said from day one if we couldn’t have children naturally we would adopt.
An empty room:
We got the room all ready. We painted, sanded the hardwood floors, and my husband built wooden shelves in the closet. We were ready. Little did we know that God would take us on a different journey. A journey that would last for seven years.
That room sat empty. None of our children ever used that room either. I can’t even begin to tell you how much my heart hurt to see it sit empty. God was preparing us to become stronger and grow in our faith. We had to leave it all in His hands and trust Him and where He was leading us. I would love for you to all join me on our journey as I share my struggle with infertility, which led us to adoption. Are you or anyone you know struggling with infertility? Are you starting the adoption process? I would love for you to join me as I share our journey and what got me through.
