School Is Back In Session!
Don’t get me wrong, I love the nice summer break with my kiddos at home but the kids heading back to school makes the top of my list of Fabulous Friday Favorites. At times the summer can get very hectic with three kids at home and therapy sessions four days a week for a child with special needs. Throw some doctor appointments in there and whew, it gets busy! With as hectic as the summer was I must say summer flew by and pretty much seems like it was a blur. We did have a lot of fun though and almost completed everything from our summer bucket list. I have posted some pictures of our fun adventures that you can check out here.
The only two things we didn’t get a chance to do was The Children’s Museum and The Zoo. I am really disappointed about the zoo. We normally always go several times in the summer. Since we moved this last year though our closest zoo is a little over an hour away so it makes it harder to just swing by whenever. We still may go in the next few weeks though as temperatures cool off some. We have been to The Children’s Museum before, just not over the summer.
Thrift Store Finds:
Another Fabulous Friday Favorite is finding a great deal. I love to check out thrift stores because you really never know what you will find! Here are some of my recent finds:
I found some awesome jeans there! You must check out the jean section while at the thrift store. Some jeans look almost brand new, and you can find some designer brands there for much less! I also found that red tray for my daughter. It is a perfect little tray for when she is on the floor sitting. I am able to put toys or books on it and the edge helps keep things on the tray instead of sliding off. The frame up above I have not used yet, but I have DIY ideas up my sleeve that I am thinking about using it for. I also found the frame that I recently used for my hair bow holder. Remember Who’s In Control:
My little girl with special needs will be starting school in just a few months. I know this time will fly by fast. We are starting the evaluation part to see if she qualifies for special services and to get her IEP set up. Our local school district is the one that will do that, but we have been trying to decide what school we want her to go to because our state has open enrollment for school choice. I have narrowed it down to two I feel would be best, and have been going back and forth on the decision.
Today I was notified that the one school, which really was my second choice isn’t excepting anyone this year unless you live in their district. To me, that was a complete answer to prayer, that I didn’t have to make that decision. It’s funny how when I start thinking I am in control of what happens God likes to remind me that He’s got this. It always amazes me how His plans always work out we just have to have faith and trust.
With my daughter having special needs I am always on the look out for things that work well for her and provide some independence. One item that I LOVE and she does as well is this Munchkin Click Lock Weighted Flexi Straw Trainer Cup. She is unable to drink a typical sippy because she doesn’t have enough strength in her arms to tip the cup up. With this sippy cup, she can hold it herself AND drink out of it from any angle! It’s pretty awesome. The only two things that I don’t like about it is the straws tend to wear out and you can’t just buy replacement straws you have to buy a whole new sippy cup, and when pressure builds up the straw leaks sometimes. It is a simple fix of just unlocking the top and relocking it but it’s a pain when it leaks on something.
Apps that save you money!
I saved the best Fabulous Friday Favorite for last. There a couple of apps I have found that I am loving and that I am making either money or gift cards from. I like Ibotta and my favorite is Swagbucks. Ibotta is an app on your phone that you can see what stores are offering money back if you purchase an item there. Say I need razors, and Walmart has a deal on Ibotta for them. I buy that brand that will give me cash back like Gilette. I purchase the item and scan my receipt to verify I purchased them and then I get $2.00 back for buying them! The amount varies per item and they even have ones you can use which don’t require an actual brand. This money back really adds up, and again it’s getting money back for things I am buying anyways.
Ibotta vs. Swagbucks
Swagbucks is amazing guys and definitely my favorite!! I seriously only used my gift cards I had from Swagbucks to buy back to school supplies and clothes for my kids this school year! I had saved my points up and my gift cards to use them for back to school. There are many ways to earn more Swagbucks or SB as they call them. Once you have a certain amount of SB saved up you can cash them out for gift cards. You can also get the dollar amount in a gift card to PayPal.
I have tried watching videos and answering surveys to earn more SB but they do take a lot of time. So at this time I mainly use Swagbucks to buy things I normally would be buying anyway. You can also buy gift cards to different stores. The gift cards earn you SB or you can order online at stores and earn SB. I like to order things that I need online and then do a pick-up in the store. So no shipping fee, quick in and out of the store, and I earn SB on something I needed to buy anyway to earn FREE gift cards! It’s pretty amazing.[clickToTweet tweet=”Try these apps to save money! #3hearts” quote=”Try these apps to save money! #3hearts” theme=”style3″]
Some Serious Money Savings!
How is that for saving money? Seriously I love them! If you haven’t ever checked Swagbucks out before you gotta try it. I was skeptical before but now I am a believer! If you would like to sign up for Ibotta here and get $10 just for signing up using my referral link. If you want to try Swagbucks you can use this link.
